Island Events and Activites

Whatever the season, whatever your pleasure, you are sure to discover it on Manitoulin Island.

 

Spring - brings the wonderful wildflowers, plus migrating birds and many photo opportunities for the amature or professional. Take one of the many hiking or bike trails scattered across the island to enjoy the colours and wildlife.

 

Summer - brings the Chi Cheemaun ferry and an abundance of activities including theater, museums, pow wows, golf, boating and fishing.

 

Fall - brings the majestic colours and hunting season, gun season beginning the third week of November from Monday to Sunday, bow season starts the first Saturday of October till the Friday before gun season. Early in December there is a 3 day black powder season along with an extended archery hunt.

 

Winter - brings many sporting pleasures, Manitoulin Island boasts some of the best Ice Fishing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and snow mobiling in the province. Bundle up and enjoy the beautiful winter sites and wildlife here on Manitoulin Island.

 

Fishing - on Manitoulin Island you can expect to catch large and small mouth bass, crappie, muskie, yellow perch, northern pike, atlantic and pacific salmon, lake trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout, splake, sauger, whitefush and walleye.
